Itinerary information
Day 1: Welcome to Almaty – City Tour
Arrive at Almaty Airport and transfer to your hotel. After check-in and some time to relax, proceed for a half-day city tour exploring the famous Golden Square in central Almaty. Visit 28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park, the Eternal Flame, Green Bazaar, Ascension Cathedral, Arbat Shopping Street, and the Rakhat Confectionery Factory souvenir shop. After the sightseeing tour, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Kok-Tobe, Medeu & Shymbulak Tour
After breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Kok-Tobe, one of Almaty’s popular attractions offering beautiful panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains. Continue to Medeu, located at approximately 1,691 metres above sea level and known for its high-altitude skating rink and scenic mountain setting. Later, visit Shymbulak Mountain Resort, a renowned destination for mountain views and winter sports, with scenic slopes and cable car experiences. After exploring the area, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Alma-Arasan Gorge & Bird-of-Prey Show
After breakfast, head towards the picturesque Alma-Arasan Gorge, known for its fresh mountain air, beautiful landscapes, and peaceful natural surroundings. Enjoy a traditional bird-of-prey show, showcasing an important part of Kazakhstan’s nomadic heritage and the long-standing tradition of falconry. Spend some free time enjoying the natural surroundings before returning to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Turgen Gorge, Waterfall & Issyk Lake
After breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to Turgen Gorge and Issyk Lake. Explore the scenic Turgen Gorge, located around 70 km from Almaty, and discover its lush forests, mountain springs, alpine meadows, and beautiful waterfalls. Enjoy a visit to a waterfall before continuing towards Issyk Lake, a picturesque high-altitude lake surrounded by dense forests and the stunning Zailiyskiy Alatau mountains. After enjoying the scenic landscapes, return to Almaty and the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Departure from Almaty
After breakfast, enjoy some free time for relaxation or last-minute shopping, depending on your departure schedule. Later, check out from the hotel and proceed to Almaty Airport for your onward journey, marking the end of your memorable Almaty Essentials – Culture, Peaks & Valleys tour.
